PRESS RELEASE

Producer Patrick Jerome Presents "Assassin Behind the Glass," With Multi-Platform Streaming Release

(April, 2019 -- Boston, MA) Assassin Behind the Glass is a contemporary urban story that questions whether “snitching” is an honorable virtue, a death sentence, or perhaps a little bit of both.

Producer Patrick Jerome explains: “I had been to the Dorchester, MA Post Office many times for routine business, and became acquainted with the people who work there. One day a thick, bulletproof glass barrier was erected at the counter, so I asked why. Turns out an incident had taken place there, and the barrier was installed as a security measure. It occurred to me that this was a story that needed to be examined. That story became Assassin Behind the Glass.”

Patrick hopes that the message that audiences take away from Assassin Behind the Glass is twofold: One, that each of us needs to use our own situational discretion when deciding whether or not to say something if we see something; and second, that the problem of gun violence in society needs to be examined on a deeper level than is currently being assessed.

Langston Fishburne as Sean
The film stars Langston Fishburne, the adult son of star Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix, The Tuskegee Airmen, Mystic River) who happens to be a dead ringer for his pop.

Fishburne, who portrays the lead character of Sean, was drawn to the idea of a black story unfolding in Boston, when the majority of films depicting stories in the area focus on the Irish or Italian communities.

What attracted Fishburne to the film was a script (penned by Jerome) that casts an honest light on black crime.

“It isn’t romanticized,” Fishburne maintains. “It’s harsh and in-your-face, and I loved performing that aspect of it. This film makes you think, as a black man, about what it’s like to love that sort of criminal life and have that be the backdrop of your reality.”

The film also features Chandra Thomas, Scott Neufville, and Lonnie Farmer.

The Boston International Film Festival takes place April 11 - 16, Assassin Behind the Glass screens at the Landmark Theatre Kendall Square on April 13 at 7:00pm.

The festival strives to bring together local, national and international filmmakers in Boston by promoting the world’s most artistic and creative independent and experimental films. The occasion of a five-day festival affords a rare opportunity to promote dialogue between filmmakers and the audience in an intimate setting.

The film’s festival premiere is followed by the online streaming and on-demand release of the film on iTunes, Amazon, Hulu, Redbox, Google Play, Playstation Network, Hoopla, Tubi, FandangoNOW, Kanopy, SlingTV, iDemand, and Patrick continues to work to bring the film to even wider audiences.

Taking Your Competitive Initiative, then Achieving the Results

Thompson Communications

Hello from Steve Thompson:

We all face the same choices every day. We can do what we did yesterday, remain in our comfort zone, and we'll accomplish exactly what we did yesterday.

Or we can take a deep breath, and take a chance, and try something new, which is guaranteed to take us out of our comfort zone.

We might have to suffer the risk of rejection, but ask anyone who has achieved a higher level in their work, and they'll tell you that learning to handle, and not to fear rejection, is an essential part of achievement, expecially in the creative industries. And the good news is that rejection is always temporary.

This is the year you break through to the next level.

Several years ago I had a chance to work with an Academy Award Winner. During an interview I heard him mention that he never worked with a publicist, so when another well known actor from the same town passed away, I took a chance and asked him if he'd like to issue a statement. He could have told me to get lost, but instead he said "Sure, thank you!" and I went on to work with him for ten years. After a few years he even remarked about how much he liked working with me: "I should have done this years earlier!"

So in an era when you hear a lot of unsubstantiated, bloated claims every day, I'm telling you a simple truth, one you probably already know well: Do the same thing, achieve the same results. Take a chance, follow your intuition and take your competitive initiative, then prepare to achieve the reward.

I've promoted over thirty-five films, worked with that Academy Award Winner for ten years, then helped a number of young, talented people both in front and behind the camera, and now I'm collaborating with a respected journalist who has written for The Hollywood Reporter, Daily Variety, and Deadline Hollywood. And I am a regular contributor to Broadway World. For a film and television professional, who else can offer you more powerful publicity service?

Just get back to me, tell me a little about what you're doing, and what you would like to do, and listen to what we have to say. (And maybe next year you'll get us tickets to the Academy Awards!)

Thanks for your consideration!

Best Regards,

Steve Thompson

Entertainment Publicity: You Know A Guy

Thompson Communications

Hello from Steve Thompson:

This could very well be your lucky day, because you now not only "know a guy," you know two guys!

And not just any two guys, one who has promoted over thirty-five films, worked with an Academy Award Winner for ten years, then a selection of talented young people working both in front and behind the camera, and is now a regular contributor to BroadwayWorld.com!

The other guy is a respected entertainment industry journalist who has worked at The Hollywood Reporter, Daily Variety, Dateline Hollywood, and others!

So if you are thinking about promoting your career, or a project (or both!) you should get back to me and find out what we can do for you.

I don't believe you can find a stronger, more powerful publicity offer from anyone, at any price!

Sure, you can pay higher fees to firm, work with an account executive who's job it is to keep you spending more, but who knows more about what the entertainment trade press looks for than someone who has worked on the inside, at more than one major entertainment media outlet?

And who else can actually make the process fun for you? (One of my clients told me once that he'd like to make another movie, just so he could work with me again!)

It's up to you now, you can outsmart your competitors, who will end up doing what they've always done before, while expecting new and better results. You'll take a chance, but risk absolutely nothing, find out what we have to say, and possibly enjoy a break-out year!

Well, you know what to do now!

Thanks for your consideration!

Best Regards,

Steve Thompson

Start Your New Year With a New Communications Director

I have to admit I've been pretty lucky in a lot of ways.

One day when I was talking to a client years ago the term "press agent" came up.

He said to me: "You're more of a 'Communications Director' than a 'Press Agent.' "

I suppose that's truer now than it was back then. These days I generally help shape the message in order to reach the largest audience, then it goes out to media outlets with a good probability of pickup, and social media, then we assist with preparations to interviewers, then we even use social media to promote the published interview!

And this year, I've begun collaborating with an entertainment industry journalist who has written extensively on film and television for Daily Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and Dateline Hollywood, so I guess you could even say we're now more a "Communications Team."

Regardless of what you might want to call us, for film, stage, and tv professionals, I believe we offer you an unmatched, powerful publicity program, not available anywhere else, at any price!

Next year really can be a fresh start for you. To learn more all you have to do is get back to me, tell me a little about what you're doing, and what you would like to accomplish.

We'll give you some ideas on how we can help, then you can decide how to best proceed.

Get back to me today, and start enjoying entertainment media coverage at the beginning of next year, generated by your own personal Communications Team! (And have some fun in the process!)

Words Are Free, But Credibility is Publicity Currency

It's been said that we are living in a post-truth era.

And that people who do public relations / publicity work are responsible.

After watching someone look into the camera, and a tell a blatant lie, we've all heard people say "oh, she's good."

I know that's just a figure of speech, and the reasons these things have occurred are complex, but we don't live in a post-truth world, and someone who can look into a camera and lie is certainly not good.

There are no schools of journalism teaching how to stretch, or pervert the truth.

Journalism schools still teach basic concepts like substantiation. If you say something is the best, then be prepared to make a straightforward comparison illustrating your point. Good journalists may not include that substantiation their stories, but you can be sure they have substantiation on hand in case they need it.

Rather than working as creators of fiction, the pr pros I know all understand and respect the value of facts.

We enter the communications environment every day on behalf of our clients. The people who we contact depend on the accuracy of the information we provide, because they need to publish the truth, to maintain their own credibility.

Our credibility with the media outlets we contact is our stock in trade.

Yes, we feature the unique characteristics of our clients, in order to develop competitive advantages, and media outlets understand and appreciate that.

But many times when you see people making outlandish statements on tv, it's originally meant to show how outrageous they are, but too many people now take it as straight reporting, and end up believing the content of what they hear.

Our work for our clients adheres to accepted journalistic principles. In over thirty years of preparing and nationally publishing information for clients, we have never once had to issue a retraction or correction.

That should not be anything special, that should be the baseline for what you expect from a pr professional.

So if you are looking to create a publicity program, rest assured that with us you will receive a professionally planned, implemented, and managed program, that will deliver the results you expect.

Thanks for your consideration!

How Newsworthy is Your Story?

The world is filled with talented people, and you are one of them!

So maybe if you hire a publicist, your work will be covered in the trades. Will it?

Good question!

The trades are looking for interesting stories, so there are opportunities.

They are looking for breakout performances. New takes on known themes, comments from established talent about working with you.

Immigrants who are establishing themselves here in the US have opportunities with news media who cover news about their country of origin.

Filmmakers with films that examine issues that are taking place in the news, or themes that appear simple but become more complex under examination have opportunities.

Filmmakers who shoot in locations that are familiar to resident viewers, or who bring stars to shoot in location cities have opportunities.

First time recipients of major award nominations have opportunities to describe what it took to earn the nomination.

All of these opportunities share a common element: they contain subjects that interest the media outlets' audiences, which they have not seen before.

So how newsworthy is your story? Find out by telling me a little, and I'll give you an idea of what you might expect.
